The IAAF/ Maroc Telecom World Youth Championship, which will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from July 13th till 17th will be an unprecedented athletic event. It will bring under 18-year athletes and senior world and Olympic champions together.

Lamine Diack, President of the IAAF, is very happy with the athlete patrons’ attendance to supervise and motivate the promising young athletes, stars of the future.

The board of athlete patrons consists of the Moroccan 400m hurdles world champion (Nezha Bidouane), the German world and Olympic sprinter and runner(Heike Drechsler), the Danish 800m world champion and record holder (Wilson Kipketer), the Cuban 800m world champion (Ana Fidelia Quirot), and the Russian world and Olympic pole vaulter (Maksim Tarasov).

The athlete patrons are going to run five workshops, dedicated to the discussion of current athletic topics such as training, stretching, recovering from injury, competition tips, concentration, and fighting against doping which will be the most important topic to discuss.

The aim behind “ Fighting Against Doping” workshop is to encourage the future young champions to avoid the the use of illegal drugs.
