USA comes first advancing China, and Kenya.
The last day of the IAAF/ Maroc Telecom World Youth Championships came to an ever escalating point of success. With seven championship records and more than forty personal performances, the championship turns out to be a successful athletic parade. That’s why the IAAF officials are very happy with the event’s unprecedented results. Athletics is practised at an early age in different part of the world. It has come with many African athletic prodigies.

Chinese Huang Haiqiang jumps higher and higher…
On the fourth day of the The IAAF /Maroc Telecom World Youth Championships, Marrakech , Russia is number one with three golden medals, and five bronze. Two Moroccan athletes are attending the last day of the competition to be held on Sunday afternoon at five o’clock (GMT), with a timetable of eleven finals. The Moroccan athletes will certainly find it difficult to grab a medal. The technical staff of the the Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation have placed high hopes on Halima hachlaf (800m – Girls) and Hakim El Mafhoum (Pole Vault - Boys). |

400m - Girls - Final. Nawal El Jack to dedicate Sudan the first golden medal.
Nawal El Jack ( SUD), who is only sixteen, grabbed the golden 400m women medal, with a championship record and a personal best ( 51.83 ). The Croatian, Danijela Grgic, won the silver medal with a personal best ( 51.30 ). The bronze medal went to Aymée Martinez from Cuba with a personal best ( 52.04 ).

Marrakech 14/07/2005 - 2ème journée
Les USA sont passés à la vitesse supérieure en accrochant quatre médailles, dont deux en or pour les filles sur les distances du 100 mètres et 110 m./haies, confirmant leur bonne santé dans les sprints courts.
Neuf finales seront au menu de la journée de demain, dont l’épreuve du 1500 mètres/filles ou Aicha Bani défendra les chances marocaine pour obtenir l’une des trois médailles à 20h00 (GMT), juste après une série garçons sur la même distance.
La saga des finales côtés filles sera entamée par les 400 mètres/haies à 18h10 (GMT), quelques minutes avant celle du saut en hauteur.
Suivront tour à tour ceux des garçons. Le saut à la longueur, le marteau, le 800 mètres et le 2000 mètres steeple.

Too difficult to pace up with Nawal El Jack in the 400m women final .
Eight athletes clinched a ticked to the final 400m to be held on Friday. The fastest of them all was Nawal El Jack, (SUD). She smashed the championship record, second of all time ( 51.83). There will be a tough race between her and Danijela Grgic who came second with a personal best ( 52.91) CRO, advancing Brandi Cross ( 53.43) USA.
Bobby Gaye Wilkins ( 54.07), JAM, Jaimee Lee Hoebergen ( 54. 17) AUS, Mmaria Alejandra Idrobo ( 54.41) COL, also clinched a ticket to the final improving their personal bests.

The IAAF/ Maroc Telecom World Youth Championship, (Marrakech) : A colourful opening ceremony |
His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid presided a colourful opening ceremony on Wednesday afternoon. The ceremony went vibrating on the rhythm of lively and folk music while hundreds of children were carrying flags of the participating nations in front of an audience of about six thousand. Among the attendance was Lamine Diack, President of the IAAF; Mohammed Aouzal, President of the RMAF ( Royal Moroccan Athletics Federation); Omar El Jazouli, President of Marrakesh Urban Commune; and Mohammed El Gahss, minister of Youth.

The IAAF/ Maroc Telecom World Youth Championship, which will take place in Marrakech, Morocco, from July 13th till 17th will be an unprecedented athletic event. It will bring under 18-year athletes and senior world and Olympic champions together. |
